In the last year I've had the pleasure of working on two very different commission quilts that had the interesting linkage of being commemorative and linked by a common equestrian thread. "Girls at the Beach" was created from a wide melange of clothing materials, primarily related to a young rider's eventing activities, but used a-typically to re-create a scene from a favorite moment she had on a beach with her younger sister.
The second quilt, "Shamrock's Rail Fence" was created as a modular display unit for the many ribbons awarded to a special horse (who was named Shamrock).
